The Acura Type S Concept is a demo version of the TLX Mk2
Acura has come to the LA Show 2019 with the Type S, a concept car that will eventually make it into production as the second generation of its TLX sports sedan.
The company used to produce performance-oriented ‘Type S’ vehicles until around ten years ago, wrapping up the production afterwards. The last such model was the Acura TL Type S, which came out in 2007 and 2008 and had custom wheels, Brembo brake calipers, and upgraded sports suspension. It came powered by a 3.5 V6 engine rated at 290 hp (216 kW) and offered a six-speed manual transmission.
As for the upcoming TLX Type S, Acura says it will take advantage of an all-new turbocharged six-cylinder engine rated north of 300 hp (224 kW). The company does not disclose any other specs, instead drawing attention to the sportier overall styling of the model.
The new TLX Type S should hit the showrooms in 2020.
