E.C.D. unexpectedly rolls out a diesel-powered Defender 110
E.C.D. Automotive Design has churned out almost three dozen custom Defenders over the past couple of years. Most came powered by Chevrolet-branded engines in either NA (430 hp / 321 kW) or turbocharged (565 hp / 421 kW) form. This diesel-chugging Def is something entirely new, though.
The 1991 restomod was fitted with a Cummins R2.8 turbo diesel rated at 151 hp (113 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, linked to a five-speed manual transmission. All things considered, we would have probably gone for something stronger, but the customer who paid for the job seemed fully satisfied with it.
The rear end of the car now opens to reveal a wardrobe with storage boxes and an axe hanging in the main department. A weapon lockbox resides under the driver’s seat.
Other noteworthy upgrades include Exmoor Elite MK2 seats wrapped in Porsche leather, a roll cage, and a Sirius XM infotainment system with wireless smartphone charging capacity.
On the outside, the Land Rover Defender 110 looks more or less like the usual E.C.D. fare: this includes the signature wide body kit, the raised suspension, and the 16-inch steel wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 tires.
