2nd-gen Chevrolet Sonic/Aveo debuts in the USA
Chevrolet has brought the second generation of its Sonic compact, also known as the Aveo in some markets, to the LA Show 2019. Let us see what is new.
The car boasts new bumpers and radiator grille, updated lighting all around, and a reworked hood design. Inside, there is a new versatile infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen display and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. Further improvements include a digital dashboard and a reversing camera.
Brand-new paid options include keyless entry, power adjustments for the driver’s seat, steering wheel heating, and a rear parking sensor. None of this was available for the model in the first generation.
Customers may choose between two engines: 1.4-liter turbo and 1.8-liter non-turbo. Both generate 139 hp (103 kW), but the turbocharged version wins in terms of maximum torque (201 vs. 169 Nm; 148 vs. 125 lb-ft). Transmission can be six-speed manual or automatic.
