Interested in a 55-year-old Ford Bronco restomod for $106k+?
Even before Ford came up with its Raptor lineup of performance vehicles, it had a very capable off-roader on offer – the old Bronco. The example shown here was manufactured in 1968, but it was overhauled for a SEMA show not too long ago and is now on sale in a 'better-than-OEM' condition.
The full list of modifications is several pages long, so we will cover just the highlights. The entire undercarriage is rebuilt based on modern components such as Currie axles, Fox Racing shocks and Hellwig sway bars. A new chassis by Art Morrison should let the driver floor the pedal on rough terrain without worrying too much about structural damage – of course, provided that they are not afraid of driving a precious show car in the first place.
Those who do drive show cars will be pleased to learn that this one utilizes a 5.0-liter Ford Coyote V8 designed to produce 460 PS (454 hp / 338 kW) in stock form. The Bring-a-Trailer listing neglects to mention any kind of tuning done on it, but even if we assume there has been none, the power is still around twice as much as this Bronco shipped with.
Interior highlights include black leather seats with blue accents, a body-matching blue dashboard and a steering wheel with aluminum spokes. There is a modern radio with speakers on board, and the gear lever comes from TCI.
With several hours left before the end of the auction, the bidding is still at $106,000.
