Hyundai wants to make a mid-engine sports car
24-11-2019 11:20
The South Korean carmaker has announced at the Los-Angeles show that it was looking into designing a production sports car with the mid-engine layout.
The company built the first such concept based on the Veloster hatchback in 2014. This time around, it brought along the RM19 Concept (see the gallery and the video). This prototype might eventually give birth to a mid-engine car series.
The RM19 Concept is still based on Veloster components and shares some of its design as well. It comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 390 hp (291 kW), which sends the torque to the rear axle using a six-speed sequential transmission. It does 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in four seconds flat.
